1 John 2:8
Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.
Dancing over despair, laughing at discouragement, freedom has arrived!
Kicking open rusty doors, breaking off eternal chains.
Rockin’ all over the universe, molding our destinies, God is running the whole place.
Shining, splendorous in every corner, we’ve all been looking for this.
Creating a revolution in our loneliness, rebelling against ourselves.
Raving in the Light Life, the world is going to be changed tonight forever.
Streets glow with expectation, demons tremble, diseases wiped out.
Golden Glory falling over every heart under the cloudless night.
The Holy Spirit is falling upon all flesh, and the party is just getting started
Heaven is wide open, soon the book will close, but the Light Life ain’t gonna stop.
John 17:14-15
14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.
Jesus called His children to be the salt and light of the world. We are called to give this world what it needs, light and flavor! Yet, many sit at home all day or do nothing but live in church and nothing gets done out there in the world, where we are needed. The world is having a great time, but while they are wasting their time with drugs, sex, alcohol, and being unproductive, what are you doing? Jesus said to His parents, “I’m about my Father’s business.” He was busy, even as a child. He only spent 3 ½ years teaching and demonstrating the kingdom of God, but 30 years keeping busy!
When we go to places that are full of sin, we are the light. When you go to your job/school/home/etc, where people are cursing, gossiping, lying, or making sexual jokes, you don’t have to run to the bathroom and cry out to God to get you another job. You need to give them the gospel! They are missing the greatest life of all, the Light Life! It’s the life that Jesus came to give them, an eternal one. He came to give us healing, peace, Heaven, deliverance from addictions and demons, and protection.
So what are some practical ways we can still enjoy this life without intentionally sinning? First, stay away from places, people, or things that used to tempt you. Know yourself, and resist satan when he does tempt you (he will). When the temptation comes, ask God to deliver you from it and that the Holy Spirit gives you His grace to withstand it. Living a life where you avoid sinful activities is great! It gives you time to do what God created you to do. Most people don’t accomplish their purpose in life because they get caught up with so many “extra-curricular activities”, that there’s no time for that business idea you have, that degree you wanted to earn, the wife/husband you’ve always dreamed of, or all the souls for Christ you could’ve won.
There are local attractions you can go to, books you could be writing, people you could be helping, places where you could be volunteering, someone you could mentor, or even taking a vacation. For example, allow God to deliver you from that cigarette addiction so you can use that money and time to invest and better your future. Get alone in prayer and start asking God to reveal to you what His will is for your life. Write it down, whatever it may be, and get to work! Life doesn’t have to be boring, it can be an adventure. Some of us start life with more than others and some of us start with nothing. Wherever you are now isn’t where you’re going to stay forever. Life will always have some kind of problem, but they aren’t permanent (John 16:33). The Light Life never stops, and the Holy Spirit is always flowing with creativity. He’s full of ideas, He’s God’s Spirit, and God is creative. Just look at yourself, your body is so complex scientists still haven’t figured it all out. Start asking Him for something to do, because while others are sleeping, drinking, and partying, you’ll be the one reading, studying, learning, making money, and changing the world for Christ.
